One of my best friends is pregnant and due in November. It appears the nesting bug has avoided her only to hit me as if a steamship were parting my hair. I'm not pregnant but I have this insane need to organize everything in our home. Closets, bedrooms, the garage. I have no time to do this mind you, but my list grows exponentially.
One particular toy that continues to drive me insane in the storage department is the almighty Lego (dare I just say "Legos" without fear of the branding police coming after me?). I'm guessing we have close to 5,000 Lego pieces in our house. Most of them batched by their "set." Which means 5,000 Lego pieces in about 10 different containers of all sizes. Yes, this seems a minor problem in the grand scheme of life but when you have a shoebox for a home with limited storage - as in few closets and no cabinets in the garage - 10 containers of varying sizes is some serious closet space.
I may have a potential solution.
Lego has this nifty carrying case that they just introduced. I saw it in the catalog that arrived this week. (Side note: Nol immediately picked up "his magazine" and started dog-earring items he wants on his Santa list. Scary.)
So this carrying case - it has a bunch of dividers in it so we could separate pieces by color and size. But they conveniently leave out how many total pieces the thing could fit. Come on Lego, give me a range even. I'm guessing I'd have to buy two. But two is better than ten, other than the fact that they cost $25 each. Right, $25 for a glorified cardboard box.
And good ideas for Lego storage?
