My parents are in Arizona for Spring Training. Every day my mom calls me with an update, "We saw J.T. Snow!" "Barry Bonds hit a home run!" "What's your ring size? We're going shopping!" (I love those calls with the last request, of course).
I received her call last Friday and she had another question: "Guess who is going to be in town tomorrow?" I had no clue and she said, "Tu sabes...tu novio!" Translated, "You know, your boyfriend."
My mom refers to Rick Springfield as my boyfriend. It's a Latin thing. I told her that she and my dad should go to the concert...he does put on a great show.
Fast forward to Saturday night.
The hubs and I went out to dinner to celebrate our 10 year wedding anniversary (teehee). When we got home, our babysitter mentioned she had received two strange phone calls with that seemed to be loud rock music playing in the background. I began to laugh hysterically. I knew immediately that it was my mom calling me from the concert.
My mom and I spoke Sunday morning. And this is how it went...
"Ahora ya te entiendo. Mija, extuvemos tan cerquita de él. Tiene una voz como miel. Y su forma? Como podria ser 57? Las muchachas estaban gritando como fueran locas. Mira, necesitas tener cuidado con tu novio. Pero mija, no te preocupes...Anoche tu papa y yo lo protegimos para ti."
Translated:
"Now I understand. My daughter, we were so close to him. He has a voice like honey. And his BODY?! How could he be 57? The girls were SCREAMING like CRAZY. Look, you need to be careful with that boyfriend. But don't worry...last night your dad and I protected him for you."
She said it all in almost one sentence. And then she laughed with the cutest laugh. She's hooked.
