Project No Sun: The wearer of many hats...

Friend Mr. Geek asked me what the heck happened to Project No Sun. Because if you're keeping track, you'll notice I haven't posted about my hats since the day my boys started summer vacation. Coincidence? Nope. Direct correlation? Of course.

While I've snapped photos, I haven't uploaded them to my laptop. Over the course of any given day, I usually stick with one cap or hat but sometimes I manage to go through three or four depending on what I'm doing and where I'm going. (Walking the dog? Baseball cap. Showered and changed? Fancier hat. Beach? Cowboy hat.) 

Today's hat (from Target) has been worn often. It's one of my favorites because of the cute little floral design pictured above. The front brim, however, manages to turn wonky with every appearance. The wire allows too much movement and I have to reset it each time I wear it. Inconsistency bugs me. This fact is somewhat entertaining (ironic?) since I can't seem to maintain consistency in other parts of my life. Like, oh, posting about my hats on a daily basis.

Nol's last day of school was cause for celebration. We walked to the mercado for coconut paletas and took a stroll to the park for some time on the swings.

Yesterday's hat: Brown newsboy with big buttons from Anchor Blue. I bought it last year on clearance for about two bucks. Score!

Project No Sun (today's hat): SF Giants military cap...

The Giants beat the Reds last night. In what seems to be their latest strategy, they lead by several runs, the other team ties it up, and it becomes a bitter slug fest that causes heartburn. Buster Posey suited up in his catcher's gear. And that, my friends, made listening to the game worth the crazy.

Today's hat is a green military cap with "Giants" embroidered across the side in pink was purchased last year at the San Jose Giants shop. I'm not a fan of the shredded look along the brim, but I love the fit. And it's green; it goes with anything.

Project No Sun (today's hat): The Flying Squirrels...

The crazedparent family has a growing collection of baseball caps. We, of course, dig wearing caps from our favorite MLB teams, but the husband and I are even a bigger fans of caps from minor league teams.

We were at spring training watching the SF Giants play the Colorado Rockies, my husband happened to be wearing the practice cap of th Fresno Grizzlies, the Giants Triple-A team. When we walked behind the Giants dugout and a few Triple-A players saw his cap, they gave him the wass'up knod for the Grizzlies prop. I dig those guys.

For the husband's birthday, I got him a practice cap from the Giants Double-A team, The Flying Squirrels, who are based in Richmond, Virginia. Who do we follow on this team? Brandon Crawford, a Silicon Valley native, and Conor Gillaspie, who we watched in Single-A for the San Jose Giants. Dude is seriously intense with his pre at-bat routine/quirks in the dugout. I miss watching him at games in our hood.

Today's hat in Project No Sun gives a hat tip to Garrett Broshuis, a former pitcher with the Giants organization and a talented writer who you should follow. I am fascinated by the inner goings-on in baseball and his insight about the minors is eyeopening. If you only have time to read one of his posts, start here. It's my fav.

I wanted to round out my husband's Giants MiLB cap collection, so I pinged Garrett for a recommendation on which hat to get for my husband. I wanted one with the flying squirrel on it, like the players use. But they only sell it for kids. I holler bad call on that play.

The hat I gave my husband is a cool one (thanks, G!). Only it didn't fit him. He has to pick a new one.

Me? I get to get the "old" hat. And I'm sportin' it today.

I love how things all work out.

This hat thing. It's been a fun challenge. Hats are ruling my dress style. If the weather is unruly, a baseball cap goes on. I rummage through Nol's collection to find one if my caps are feeling a little worn. If it's sunny or remotely decent weather, I can play around with what I'm wearing.

Today's hat is a newsboy cap I picked up at Target a few years ago and loved the color, sort of a tangerine orange, because I could wear it to Giant's games. (I do not kid when I say I love baseball.) But it's perfect for a casual day with jeans and a sweater.

Plus, I seem to come up with good writing ideas when I wear it.

Let's call it the Thinking Cap.
